Trash Category – a module that allows recursively to disable all nested categories and products within a specified category.
Actually, this is the only seemingly very simple task. When there are several suppliers in the store, and automatic updating of products is configured using the API or parsers, difficulties begin. All “trash” content has to be: either deleted each time, then it is created anew after each update; or collect it in the trash category, and manually disable it after each parsing. Otherwise, all this “obscenity” is picked up by the search. As a result, all sorts of “advertising stands, promo cards, and simply low-margin goods” appear in the search. There is no point in uploading all this to the site at all, butthe labor intensity of selecting such goods is several times greater than the labor intensity of moving them to the trash category.
And this is how the module works - one (root) category is marked as “trash”, as a result, all its subcategories and products receive the corresponding attribute. The module allows you to disable products and categories marked “trash” on the website, both manually (by pressing one button) and by task CRON (according to a schedule). As a result, “trash content,” as well as “trash categories,” are not displayed on the site for the average user, but are available for administration through opencart tools.
