FAQ accordion for products

What the module does

The FAQ accordion helps you quickly add useful questions and answers to product cards: about the model, price, availability, manufacturer, category, product features and selection conditions.

Questions can be made universal through product variables. For example, in the admin panel you can write “What model does [product_name] have?”, and on the storefront the buyer will see a question with the name of a specific product.

The module displays a visible FAQ block and JSON-LD FAQPage only for the actual questions shown.

Main features

• FAQ blocks are created as standard instances of the OpenCart module, similar to Banner, Carousel and Featured Products.
• One FAQ block can be linked to one or more categories.
• Products receive FAQs automatically by belonging to the selected categories.
• There is no manual linking to each product, which is convenient for large catalogs.
• You can add several display conditions via the plus button.
• Conditions for product fields: name, model, SKU, UPC, EAN, JAN, ISBN, MPN, manufacturer.
• Conditions for product attributes: selecting an attribute through automatic selection and checking the value.
• All conditions within one FAQ block work according to AND logic.
• Auto-selection of categories in the admin panel.

Product variables

In the title, questions and answers you can use variables insquare brackets:

Example questions:

• What model is [product_name]?
• Who is the manufacturer of [product_name]?

Display logic FAQ

• FAQ block must be included.
• The product must belong to one of the selected block categories.
• If conditions are added, the product must meet all conditions.
• If several FAQ blocks match one product, only the most relevant one is displayed.
• A block with a category and filled in conditions has priority over a regular category block.
• If the relevance is the same, the sort order is taken into account, then the module ID.

Usage Examples

• General FAQ for all products in the "Laminate" category.
• FAQ only for products whose name contains"SPC".
• FAQ for products of a specific manufacturer.
• FAQ for products with a specific attribute, for example "Material = vinyl".
• Universal questions with substitution of model, price, manufacturer and availability status.

SEO and JSON-LD

The module generates FAQPage structured data in JSON-LD format. The markup includes only those questions and answers that are actually shown to the user on the current product page.

Important: module adds correct technical markup, but does not guarantee display of rich results in Google or other search engines. Display decisionrich results are accepted by the search engine.

Installation

• Download the archive "faq-accordion_oc3-ocstore3_v1.0.0.ocmod.zip" through the section "Extensions -> Installing extensions".
• Open "Extensions -> Modifiers" and click update modifiers.
• Open "Extensions -> Extensions -> Modules".
• Set "FAQ Accordion".
• Create a FAQ block, selectcategories, display conditions, questions and answers.
• If necessary, include the output immediately after the product description.
• Clear the theme/modifier cache if the changes do not appear immediately.

Compatibility

Checked:

• OpenCart 3.0.4.1 clean stand.
• ocStore/OpenCart 3.0.3.9 clean stand.
• PHP 7.4 and PHP 8.2 syntax check.
• Standard default-compatible product card.

Not declared:

• OpenCart 4.x in thispackage.
• Guaranteed compatibility with all third-party themes without separate verification.
• FAQ output on category pages.

Third-party themes and non-standard assemblies are not stated as supported, but this can be done through the service Template adaptation
